HR and Employment

As part of the academy conversion process, school staff will automatically transfer from the Local Authority to the Academy under the TUPE regulations. The TUPE process can be involved and there are detailed requirements in respect of consultation and the provision of information which can easily trip up a school converting to an academy.

Usually schools will want to take advantage of the HR services offered by the Local Authority. As part of our school to academy service, we will monitor the TUPE process to ensure that it runs smoothly and to the timetable.

In some cases, schools may not be able to (or want to) use the Local Authority for TUPE advice. If this is the case, we will manage and advise on the TUPE transfers directly.

Becoming an employer in place of the Local Authority can be challenging without the right advice and there are always new proposals in the pipeline to be aware of.
